Expertise
Over the course of my career at Eckerd College, I have taught a wide variety of classes in the disciplines of Marine Science and Geosciences. I regularly teach Geological Oceanography, Earth Materials, Earth Structure, Solid Earth Geophysics, Principles of Hydrology, and Marine Science Senior Seminar--Submarine Hydrothermal Vents. I also teach field courses during Winter Term, including traveling abroad for Natural History of the Galapagos Islands and Ecuador and working with Eckerd Waterfront staff to teach Science of Seafaring.
I have taken on many administrative roles, including Chair of the Natural Science Collegium, Building Shepherd for the James Center for Molecular and Life Sciences, Chair of the Student Research Symposium, and Director of the Marine Science Pre-college Program. I have written numerous grants to support infrastructure and academic programs, receiving funding from the National Science Foundation, Clare Boothe Luce Foundation, and Sloan Foundation.
