Expertise

I specialize in theories of noun form and meaning and agreement phenomena in Asturian, a minoritized language spoken in northern Spain. In this language, certain nouns can only be counted based on the vowel that they end in (pelu 'a hair' / pelo 'hair'). Adjectives can also agree with uncountable interpretations instead of gender (ropa guapo 'nice clothing' / not ropa guapa).

I am also generally interested in nouns that change meaning through grammatical gender shift in Romance languages, particularly Spanish. (feminine manzana 'apple' > masculine manzano 'apple tree').

Once settled here at Eckerd, I will continue with my Asturian documentation project, as well as seek opportunities to document other varieties of Spanish.
